While Amy Sullivan doesn't really answer her question, "What would Falwell do?", she does retrace the faltering footsteps of the Religious Left during the last 30 years -- then leaves it to us to find our way back to the trail (with the not-terribly-original-or-helpful conclusion, "the religious left will need to do more to make itself heard"). It's in Salon, so you'll have to watch a brief ad if you're not a subscriber.
